Dr. Mithra Prasad is a distinguished Consultant Hepatologist at VGM Hospital, Coimbatore. With an impressive academic foundation, she earned her MBBS and MD in Internal Medicine from Coimbatore Medical College, followed by a DM in Hepatology from the prestigious Madras Medical College.
Her clinical expertise spans across diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including Endoscopic Variceal Band Ligation (EVBL), Hemospray application, sclerotherapy, and argon plasma coagulation. She is also proficient in liver intensive care and procedures such as therapeutic plasma exchange and ultrasound-guided liver biopsy.
Dr. Mithra has been recognized for academic excellence, securing distinctions in Ophthalmology and Medicine during her training. Her dedication to hepatology is evident through her involvement in various national and international medical associations, including: Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE)
A prolific contributor to medical research, Dr. Mithra has presented and published work on topics such as bacterial infections in cirrhosis, peptic ulcer bleeding, and the impact of COVID-19 on liver failure.
